The Clumber Spaniel Club

Founded 1904 · RKC Recognised 1920

The Clumber Spaniel Club is the breed's original club, run entirely by volunteers, for owners, breeders and admirers of the Clumber Spaniel across the UK and around the world.

Our Story

Founded by forty enthusiasts, still going strong

The Clumber Spaniel Club was founded in 1904 with a membership of forty enthusiasts. It was, however, not officially recognised by the Kennel Club until the 1920 Stud Book listed the Club in its pages. The Club has members from across the UK and around the world.

Clumbers have been popular as show dogs since the advent of dog shows and in 2026, Lee Cox’s Sh Ch Vanitonia Soloist achieved the highest accolade taking the title Crufts Supreme Champion.

The Clumber Spaniel has been prized as a working dog for over 200 years and although its popularity dropped during the middle of the last century, it is now making a steady comeback in the shooting field.

Some Clumbers have also shown their versatility in other newer disciplines such as agility, tracking and heelwork to music, while others as Pat Dogs have enriched the lives of those they visit in hospitals and retirement homes.

Internationally, the Clumber Spaniel Club maintains its links with its sister Clubs around the world and participates at the International Breed Seminars held every few years.

The Club holds a number of events each year including two shows, working events and training days. All members are welcome at our events which will be advertised on our website and our Facebook page so do check in regularly for latest updates.

A Community of Clumber Enthusiasts

Like the breed itself, the Club is unpretentious and welcoming. Every officer and committee member is a volunteer, giving their time because they love Clumbers. Sub-committees, including Health & Welfare and Rescue & Rehome, focus effort where it matters most to the breed's future.
